Double overstrike?- 7th Century follis (possibly) overstruck on 3rd Century Roman provincial

    Got it, thanks for the pointers @Shea19! Unfortunately I do still think it's just a chance pattern in the corrosion rather than an overstrike. :( Still, I could be wrong, and the first overstrike is clear and cool!

    Thanks @Severus Alexander. I definitely appreciate the experts weighing in. So, it’s looking more and more like I may have written my longest ever CT post about something which may be just a figment of my imagination. I will definitely keep researching this because it really still looks like a left-facing bust to me, but for now, I think I’m going to quietly back away from this one for a while and then revisit it in 2021.
