Ed, have you ever tried to research that Chauffeur's Tag in the city archives to learn who it was issued to?

Was taking a few days off.

Wow, a Walker! Gotta love that big silver when it pops, eh? I have only found five silver halves ever: An 1894-O Barber, a 1926-S Oregon Trail commemorative(!), 1937-D and 1944 Walkers, and one Franklin (it was a 1952, if I remember correctly). No silver dollars or other larger silver coins.

Nice old relics there, too. I like that shoe buckle. That's an early one.

PS- I totally overlooked that 1861 Seated dime at first glance! Excellent! Seated silver is as exciting as big silver, ain't it?

For Seated dimes, I've dug an 1839, an 1862, and an 1876-S. Also a few half dimes and one quarter (1855 w/arrows). No Seated half or dollar, of course.

    Fantastic group of finds.
My oldest is in NYC but not into detecting (unless it's detecting aromas in an alehouse)

Sounds like someone needs to visit warm Florida and detect during the winter months to avoid atrophy from setting in.

This year I purchased the AV Minelab Vanquish 440.
Simple to use, lightweight and affordable at $279.00
It's my 3rd Detecting machine and I love it!

    It's the red one ;)

What are the other two and how do they stack up? I've been thinking of picking up a vanquish 540. I'm using a Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 at the moment.
