And look at this 1926 SLQ: http://cgi.ebay.com/1926-STANDING-L...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50

the eagle's head looks like a turtle's, among other things.
Auctions like these are precisely why eBay has to stop listing 'replicas' completely. This unmarked junk quickly finds its way into the US coin stream and when a US seller lists it people just assume it's ok. Note that NO series is immune to these fakes! I am seeing more letters about this in magazines like CW, more articles like Susan Headley's, I think now is the time to turn up the pressure on eBay, the ANA, anyone who will listen.

At the very least, they should require them to be listed in the Replica sections, that way, when they aren't listed there, the seller can get into deeper trouble. It puts more pressure on the sellers to authenticate their wares before sticking them on Ebay, since the current structure makes it worth while to not give a hoot, just stick them on and hope for the best. :goof:

So, which ones on that list are authentic and which ones are counterfeit?

Ps: I hope some of you are getting the point, which is here we have a seller that is selling counterfeits and they are aware of it because I personally contacted them and proved the 1806 DBC was a counterfeit but they went ahead and sold it, which, the buyer is now in the process of getting a refund, thanks to a little "birdie" whispering in their ear. So why is this seller still alive? Why hasn't Ebay NARU'd this seller? They are clearly selling counterfeits and they've been reported many times, yet they are still alive & kicking and selling their wares to unsuspecting Ebay buyers.

Do you think Ebay is doing its part to make Ebay a safer place for you to shop?

Pps: Birdie flies the coop first thing in the morning. Will dispatch note afterwards. ;)

They all look counterfeit to me, ESPECIALLY that half eagle and the rest of the gold! :crying::crying::crying:

Why doesn't eBay just stop him already? They have enough proof, don't they? I think we all need to report this guy, then maybe eBay will get the "message" :)

This seller has been reported, going all the way back to that pathetic 1806 DBC, yet Ebay is turning a blind eye to the fraud. :( The problem is the fox is guarding the hen house, so they don't make money off of pulled auctions. ;)

What needs to be done is for Congress to pass legislation that will put liability on websites such as Ebay, in the form of monetary penalties, for not addressing fraud when it's been brought to their attention. Then, Ebay will finally be forced to hire a handful of peeps that are knowledgable in numismatics and we will finally have someone knowledgable to deal with, instead of the BS we've been living with. :hammer:

you really need to understand that ebay is not here to protect you or the coins they are there for commissions, sell coins or horses its the same to them as long as they get the commission

I agree the 1806 is a fake, but I would not use the bifurcated feet as a definitive diagnostic since that is present on many genuine early coins and is a result of the strike. I don't think I've ever seen it on an 06 but I wouldn't say it doesn't exist.

There are plenty of other diagnostics that prove the coin is a fake though.

They are the fox guarding the hen house. Anotherwords, fraud makes them money so they have many reason$ not to care.
