There's something hilariously ironic about a mayflower coin taking forever to arrive in the mail. With that said I've been waiting on a package since November 4th.
I have a package that was mailed on 12/15, It is coming from 60 miles away. Informed delivery says it is arriving Late. Wife has 3 other packages that were shipped on 12/5/6 welcome to the new world order! The other carriers are also running late UPS went by the house 3 times that I seen same truck and driver. Before dropping off the package.
Beautiful, Greenie! Well worth the wait I'd say, although aggravating. I just received a coin from the UK yesterday that took 21 days. Usual wait time is 10, but everybody is backed up now. No problem for me but I do start getting nervous after about 15 or 16 days. Bruce
I'm just grateful I got all Xmas presents except one and it's the biggest . Whatever you guys do , don't order something like a new bed or like me a couch . It was ordered on Dec. 1st and just arriving on the 22nd from CA . It just left there 2 days ago. We will see .
Nice photos and coins. I have Mint orders from 12-7 that are still processing. Hopefully I get them in January.
I ordered an uncirculated clad set on November 30. It was supposedly mailed on December 4th and disappeared into the ether. It shows that a label was generated but has not gotten into the system yet. Before that, I ordered the gold uncirculated coin on November 19th and received that in less than a week. Glad it's the set that only cost $25.25 that seems to be unaccounted for.
The problem isn't always the delivery services. For example in the OP, of the 27 days between order and arrival USPS only had it for 3 days. The last three.
Does anyone think that packages will get delivered quicker if you choose the more expensive way of shipping during this whole COVID19 epidemic ? Or are we just :
Totally roll the dice. I mailed my grandkids cards together in one priority envelope and it has not been delivered yet, ten days after mailing.
I have been lucky on my purchases. However, my wife bought some dresses from XXXXXXXX and they took a month for her to get them. She had them 2 days and sent them back. She got a notice of receive 3 days later. Both were shipped UPS.
It's all a crap shot really...I can't even fathom what the USPS hubs look like. Like Mint orders, ie the recent Uncirculated Clad Set, just think how many pieces get introduced into an already overloaded system. And that's only from one location/business. Now add in all the last minute shoppers/shippers, etc. In all my shipping, buying, ordering, etc...I've never had something simply not show up. I've had stuff show after 2-3 months, or...in a USPS envelope, shredded to pieces. I'm generally an impatient person - but right now; I can't be - it does me no good and there's no one to call for help Rest assured...you'll get your goodies.
It is just that a roll of the dice. My son was visiting a girlfriends parents in Mexico when he noticed his car tags had expired. He asked me to overnight new ones via FedEx. I wanted to make sure I didn't make any mistakes so I had the FedEx employee fill out the paperwork for me. I just knew everything was done perfectly. So it was overnighted right back to ME the very next day. What can you do?
The PO is bizarre. I bought a couple of coins from a guy in Alaska. They were first shipped to Raleigh, NC. THEN to Portland, OR. Portland is right across the Columbia River from me. Makes no sense at all. Another one I bought from a guy in FL went first to NYC, then to Portland. That one makes more sense than the first two. It seems to me it would be much less expensive to fly the coins from Anchorage to Portland.
That's about half the time it took the Mayflower to make the Atlantic crossing in the first place. So the USPS has room to sink further...
