    So does the law state that public(government sponsored) establishments must accept all types of US money?

    No, it merely defines what is legal tender and what is not. Now most people think that because something is defined as legal tender that government agencies must accept it, me included. But actual practice proves otherwise for they don't accept just anything in payment. There are too many documented cases of this to dispute that it happens.

    With all due respect, how many times do we have to go over this. Private business and agencies can accept or not accept any payments they want to.
    They can and often refuse cash altogether

    Youre writing private and my question was toward public agencies. There does seem to be a difference to me.

    I wasn't, I was referring to govt. agencies.

    Private Businesses and Government Agencies

    CUNY, DMV, IRS, DOT, and the NYC Subway

    Craig - I love you but trust us on this. We've gone over it almost as many times as there are polls Morgans/Peace Dollars ... which is overdue, BTW

    As I have mentioned in the past, wher I live the government offices refuse to accept cash in payment of taxes, at least property taxes. Check or credit card only.
