Yes I absolutely agree that for the condition, it is exceptional.
I was just saying not a key date on mintage.

"It's a beaut, Clark!" (Sorry...tis the season). I think that is a beautiful coin and I am going to say MS 65 FSB. I feel the distraction in the field between the neck curls and Y in "LIBERTY" on the obverse will hold it down as well as the weakness of the superficial olive branch leaves and ax in the fasces. Luster can make a big difference and I am sure this would better be observed in hand. Again, nice coin!

MS65 FB, could be a 66 but's already an extremely tough date in Gem with full bell lines. It also looks like there's a very light hit beneath E PLURBIS UNUM (it might be the lighting on a die mark though).

You all were pretty well on it. Right from the start.

Hey I was right. Great coin. I was worried I had over graded it after I saw the census reports. Pop 2/1.

I agree. Hopefully it is due the the plastic and the bands are separated. If not it will not pass as fb. IMHO

Didn't see this until just now, but I guessed before reading ahead, and it looks like I got both the grade and the reasoning right. Maybe there's hope for me yet. :)

Oh, and: AMAZING coin! I'll bet in that date it's high four figures.

    (runs off to Numismedia)

...okay, it's pretty obvious that I don't spend much time with higher-grade examples.

    More like mid 5 figures.

That's the joke. Right smack in the "mid" of 5 figures. Like I said,...

MS 64 FB The weakly struck date and reverse lettering hold it back. A beautiful coin none the less.

Too late to "guess" so I'll just say, "It's a beautiful coin." My first impression was lower and that it was a "weak strike" but still a beauty.

I was thinking 68FSB until I looked closer at the reverse. E Pluribus Unum is very weak. Still a great coin. 65FSB
