Howdy wildwill532 - Welcome to the Forum !!

You've called it correctly :( They were made by various companies over the years - they take an ordinary cent and countermark it. Then sell it to tourists and the like. Some folks did collect sets of them - but they have no value.

Well, I admit to recenlty starting a small collection of these, and I buy them, usualy in bulk, when I see a bunch at the right price (cheap). I shunned them in th old days as senseless novelties, but some of them have sort of grown on me. Some of them are nice little reminders of various historical events.

I sometimes wonder if the days will come when someone will catalogue them and identify them by maker.

(Same goes for elongated coins. They seem to be enjoying a resurgence here in Europe. I just sqiushed three 10 cent coins - 3 different designs, and one was double sided - in Berlin at the base of the famous TV tower in the old Eatstern part.)

Anyway, one lone stamped cent (currently) has no real value.

When I buy them in bulk, if some are less than perfect, I spend those.
