spock 2.5k is nothing for what most of the multiple ducat coins cost. We're talking 5 & 6 figure coins.
Like many of you I have a varied collection, but if I had to narrow it down to a couple of areas that I really focus on right now, research, study, buy, it would have to be half cents, large cents, and bust half dollars. I have many Morgans that I love and continue to collect, particularly the VAMs, but the early copper has my attention. John
I just get whatever looks good to me If I like the coin, and have the money the coin is MINE MINE MINE! If I buy on EBay I will ONLY buy coins graded by NGC, PCGS are 1st 2 choices, other two grading companies that I would buy is ICG and ANACS.
I like and am most knowledgable in early 20th century coinage. Morgans, Peace Dollars, Walkers, Mercury dimes, Buffalo Nickels, etc. Those pieces are affordable and beautiful in my opinion. I'm pretty well rounded in most of the last 200 years of American coinage.
That's an interesting theme, I've been working on it for more than a couple of years now, and assembling a set of decent examples is quite diffcult... http://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=216 Q
Ah! Potator, its you! I never made the connection. (although the vegetable theme is obvious now!) You are actually the person who first turned me on to this series - your collection of these is beautiful. I'm still on the lookout for one in my price range.
