Hello can someone tell me if this is a die clash or something else please. If so is it valuable you think? Thanks everyone
Sounds possible, but I am using the same light for over a hundred nickels and only two show this. Seems weird, but I will go with the people more experienced than me.
I don't think @bsshog40 was referring to illumination when he mentioned light. Did you look up PIDT yet?
I've got to go with the @Inspector43 on this one. Fits the description perfectly. http://www.error-ref.com/progressive-indirect-design-transfer/
I DO believe your nickel is a clashed die If you look at the one I posted, it has the markers as on yours. The dies may have lightly polished or some clash marks less recognizable after heavy usage. The rest of the world was at war so getting extra miles from dies was important. We were at war, too. Just didn’t know it
Yours is not a die clash, it is ghosting AKA Progressive indirect die transfer. These are often confused with a die clash. Edit @Comfortably Numb is not a die clash.
Post #4 shows the areas where clash marks are seen in hand. He didn’t note the one in front of the eye which is visible
Here is the overlay from Maddie Clashes. The area in front of the eye is just another example of deteriorated dies.
I chimed in and enjoyed the answers to your question. That's what CT is all about, help and sharing. Thanks for the post.
