2000 penny question

I've held onto a certain penny for a few years, not knowing whether it was valuable or not. It's a 2000 penny, but it has no raised date whatsoever. There is a faint imprint of the year on it, but it looks as though it was stamped on by an ink stamp. I've asked around, but apparently no one's heard of this particular mint error, if it is indeed a mint error at all.

I'm no grader, so I don't know what term would be used to properly judge this coin. I will say that it hasn't been in circulation for at least a couple of years, but before that I assume it circulated regularly. It looks to be in good shape for a circulated coin.

I've included a picture. The coin on the right is a regular 2000 coin with the raised date. The one on the left is the one with only a faint sign of a date.

If anyone can tell me what the story is with this coin, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Can you get the photo a little closer?
It might be a grease filled die...

Here's a bigger, better (I hope) picture of the penny by itself.

Looks like it might be a grease filled die...it deson't add any value on to the coin...but I'm still not sure that is what it is...I looks to be damaged...
