Of course every one in here has me hooked looking and relooking at all my dang coins what a job, but did it pay off !!! I have not in my books did it ever says D / D it was always D / S , sorry the picture is not clear the new camera is on its way hope some one can ID it. thanks

It looks similar to a 1934 merc ( as I remember) posted here http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=42862 by Charles. Maybe you can backtrack to his reference. Jim
That is an RPM or repunched mint mark. It happens on all types coins before the late 80's. the rpm's for lincoln cents are extensively catalouged thanks to Charles Daughtry's passion for them. other series are not so well documented. You can check the CONECA web site to see if they have a listing matching your coin. Richard
Snake, It is really hard to tell but it appears to be a nice "D" over "D" over "D" (D/D/D)! It looks like another Secondary "D" is slight off-set and East of the Primary and another one to the Northeast of the Primary. Nice find! Frank
Jello, I would agree with you...except for one point! There is (or at least appears to be) remnants of another "D" showing on the right inside vertical bar of the Primary "D", remnants also showing somewhat to the East of the other curve of the primary "D" and unless I am wrong, there is a Split Serif on the Northwest corner of the "D". That is why I believe that it is a D/D/D (D over D East and over D Northeast). Frank

Frank, What I believe you are seeing is a D/D/D is actually a D/D with extensive die deterioration causing an outline of yet another D. Garrett
Garrett Has a very good point they did run the dies far to long in the 40's that why its so hard to find a MS-67FB.

Garrett, Die deterioration is not responsible for the Split Serifs which can only be explained by the punching of two "D's" almost on top of each other but with a slight off-set. Frank
