1st- Skip Fazzari is a specialist in authentcation & counterfiet detection. He has an amazing amount of information on the subjects & I have learned alot by studying his material. The 2nd person I personally consider a specialist, Bill Shamhart Jr. He has one of the best eyes when it comes to grading & quality. He is also a great teacher (Check out his ANA course) . I have had the pleasure of hanging out with him a few times & soaking up as much info as I could.
Chris Rudd specializes in Celtic coins :kewl: oh and musnt forget Elizabeth Cottam she is slowly taking over the buisness :hail:
Some experts who I think have provided a lot of guidance are: Non-classical ancients - Wayne Sayles Islamic medieval - Michael Mitchiner, Steve Album Sassanian - Robert Gobl MPD's for US coinage - Kevin Flynn
Some paper money guys Robert Azpiazu. Knows more about $1 Federal Reserve Notes than anyone I've ever encountered. Bob Kvederas Jr. and Bob Kvederas Sr. They wrote "the book" on web notes. Ed Zegers and Greg McNeal: Have done more research on Fort Worth "295" engraving errors than anyone I know. Hugh Schull. KNOWS his Confederate notes.
I dont know if the experts have to be living or not but I guess it helps. These are the ones that I have in mind...... -VAM experts: Leroy C. Van Allen and A. George Mallis -Half Dimes: D.W. Valentine, Mr. Valentine has compiled in his book "The United States Half Dimes" every variety, date/mint mark combination/variation and very detailed information about every year the Half Dime was minted. One of the few Half Dime experts in this hobby.
