Please GTG of the 1941 Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 4 different things: the numerical grade, 5FS or NOT FS, the * designation, and the + designation. As always, comments welcome, and please remember to vote in the poll.
66+ not FS. An attractive coin, with nice pale obverse toning. Some graininess on the reverse fields prevents the 67. Break in the steps in the right side of the steps.
I was bouncing back from 65 to 66 but I had to vote conservative and stick with 65. I don't see full steps either. Nice looking Jeff!
MS 66+ not FS ...It looks oh so close to a 67 and is very attractive overall, but the gash on the reverse (third pillar) holds it back...that same third pillar is where the steps are broken to prevent the FS designation
I'm at MS66. Lovely coin but that hit right in the middle of Monticello prevents it from getting a 67. It might get a 66+ if the luster is really booming but I'm going to stick with MS66. Not FS...I've got it as a 5-4-3-5. Also...I only voted MS66 in the poll. I forgot to click No FS.
I’m going out on a limb on this one and saying a full MS67. Looks to have dancing luster and fantastic eye appeal.
66+ no FS. The scratch on the 3rd (and to a lesser degree the 4th) pillar keep it from 67. But, the obverse is definitely 67 worthy. Steps under the 3rd pillar disqualify it for designation in my opinion.
Do you suppose that big mark through the right central pillar on the reverse was as-struck? When I guessed I kept looking at it and it doesn’t look like PMD but am no expert in these by any means. Curious to hear your thoughts.
