Hi everyone! I was recently given an envelope (looks circa 1960's-70's) with three old large notes in them... my grandma found them at the bottom of the safety deposit! I have been into coins and notes for a while now so it was a nice suprise to look at something that I hadnt seen before. I would much appreciate if somone could tell me; are there varieties of these notes I should look for?? better series or dates? I would much appreciate this info! The only thing I have found out is one is an educational note... I dont even know if the other two have names. Thank you in advance!!
The 1st note is a 1886 Silver Certificate sometimes called a "Martha" Fr. 215 Rosecrans/Jordan- looks to be in low Good condition. The 2nd note is a 1891 Treasury note sometimes called a "Stanton" Fr. 352 Bruce/Roberts - looks to be in poor condition. The 3rd is the 1896 Silver Certificate "Educational note" Fr. 224 Tillman/Roberts - looks to be good condition. A neat trio of notes - congrats on the finds.
budgood done good all very nice notes, but none would fetch a very high price due to condition. Going from memory, the last note, the education series note would probably fetch the most, followed by the martha washington note, followed in distant third, the stanton note (due to the tear). All very cool notes in any grade
Awesome!! Thank you so much for the info! I think when my grandpa was alive he probably got them from his brother who was a collector... I got some nice silver coins as well... and an 1853 large cent kept by my great great grandpa Sven from the year he immigrated from sweden.
