I would like to get a roll of the new Lincoln pennies, but I don't know how. Is it terribly hard to get a bank to just hand you a new roll when they get them? Will the U.S. Mint ever sell them on the site, in proof form? if they do, I haven't scene a scheduled date or anything. If I must go outside my comfort zone in getting them, what would be the best way to do so, and what price one expect to pay for a crisp new roll of a mere 50 cents worth of pennies? I read the thread where most everyone said that buying from HSN was a terrible idea, so I posted this one.
They were released here in Kentucky first and and I have some that I got in Hodgensville. I only had one roll I put them in 2X2 and gave them to my wife's class and teachers. :desk: The lady at the bank said if I would get several boxes she would get them for me. I will go see her tomorrow and see if she is true to her word. Ice
LOL, No need for forgiveness here.. Just go to your bank and ask: "for some rolls of pennies, preferably new ones". They shouldnt get to upset with you... Whatever you do... Don't pay an excess of 75 dollars for some on ebay.
Give it a few weeks. Banks will have these on hand by the middle of March I've been told. No sense in paying a premium on a coin you can get for face. I cannot believe what people will pay for a coin the mint will produce over a billion of. It will not be rare, and it will circulate. I personally am going to buy the mint set with the 95% copper version of all four cent designs.
I did not see the release date for the penny proofs on the U.S. Mint site. Or is it coming out in the same set as the silver proof quarter set?
Most likely the cents in both the regular (18 coin) clad proof set and the (18 coin) silver proof set will be the copper composition. The separate quarter sets, clad & silver, do not have cents in them. I haven't checked to see when the proof sets will be available. As for the banks, usually they will be happy to give you rolls of cents whenever you ask, as long as you aren't asking for things like 100 rolls, but whether or not they will have the new ones isa matter of luck and whatever the bank receives. If you ask politely if they have new ones they should be happy to give them to you if they have them.
Just some quick advise. Stay away from them now unless you are a bulk submitter and a quick flipper. They will be plentiful soon, but it requires patience. Do not pay the silly price of 10 and 20 dollars a roll now, they soon will be available for face value. Hold your horses on this one.
Thanks for the advice. I talked to my bank ad they said that they would be in within a week or so, but that they did not have any yet. And yes, they would be happy to give me a few unopened rolls for face value.
So much better then the silly folks on Ebay eh'? I cant weat to see the coins live! the images in the publications and on the net just dont quite cut it on this one..
