Most overpriced/ hyped coins/ relationship to avaliability

    This one wins the award. More then 10K+ where discovered in a large hoard/ yet thes "common" coins go for 500-1500@ lot-6553765-XL.jpg

    I agree, the same goes for the Tiberius Tribute Penny.

    I agree that the classical Owl is over-hyped. Pictures of classical Owl and the Alexander tetradrachm are the commonly seen in introductory history books on Greece. They become the obvious "introductory pieces" to potential ancient collectors. :)

    I love the Owls, but they are overpriced. I have always wanted one - they are available everywhere in most any condition - but way more than they should be given the availability.

    I saw one auction that had over a hundred of them/ all EF/MS/ yet most went 500+ euros.

    That is quite the understatement, @panzerman. Even my mom, who knows nothing of numismatics, can immediately recognize an Athenian Tetradrachm.
