Just curious to see what people’s favorite coins are.

They can be US or international coins.

    Here is my favorite!

This is a $50 gold coin that was minted in California during the Gold Rush. Due to the sudden influx of gold into the economy the government decided to make more gold coins (particularly in California).

As this is a $50 gold coin it contains a whopping 2.5 troy ounces of gold! Keep in mind the next heaviest gold coin circulating in the US was the gold $20 Double Eagle which “only” contained slightly under 1 troy oz.

    Truly an incredible coin.

Great choice, those are awesome. If I had to pick one, it would be the Lettered Edge Capped Bust Half Dollar. It was the first type that really spoke to me, and with so many die varieties, there are so many subtle variations in appearance... all in a series that is very affordable compared to many classic types. This is my favorite coin in my whole collection.

Very nice! That coin has beautiful toning too.

I love the Bust Halfs. They go back to a time when America was just getting started and finding its place in the global hierarchy.

Sadly getting a Bust Half is insanely expensive (especially in decent condition) not many collectors will ever own one.

Since this was started in the U.S. realm, I guess I'm limited. Of the intended for circulation, probably the seated liberty quarter with rays :)

This was the first really expensive coin I ever bought. That was many years ago and it's now worth over double what I paid at the time. PCGS 65 RB Matte Proof.

Since I once passed on the Humbert piece YEARS ago; the $4 Stella has always fascinated me.
