I used to work at the front end of a Walmart, for about 7 years. I did some cashiering but was a customer service manager. Anything I saw I kept. I had a couple of my colleagues that would grab coins for me when I wasn't there. I was working so much (3 jobs) that I just put everything in a box. I forgot about that box until a couple of weeks ago and started going through it. I probably have 2-300 wheaties, several silver quarters and dimes, a few Kennedys and even some older silver. I kept a few of the Presidential dollars and a few of anything 'new' that came out. I'm having fun going through that box now!! Quick story: My colleague was standing close to the Coinstar machine one day. A lady brought a bag of coins to put in it. She dropped the bag and my colleague saw a bunch of wheaties all over the floor. My colleague gave her a few dollars (don't remember how much) for them. She said they looked a little different! They were all 1943 wheaties, some in really decent shape. I think it's about 75 coins. Nice find!! Really miss that source!!
He did her a good deed -- the machine wouldn't have given her credit for steel cents. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, there's a magnetic trap inside the machine that catches steel items, so she might not even have gotten them back from the reject slot!
Nothing special but I found some nice shiny pennies I though I would keep and what I would consider somewhat nice $5 bill
Found a pretty cool find. Not my first proof I’ve found but it’s been awhile so it was fun to find. It’s in decent shape for being found in a register
Nice! I got one 1999 Pennsylvania (non-silver) proof quarter in circulation years back -- it showed very little wear, but no trace at all of frost on any of the devices. I thought the "laser-pebbled" finish the Mint uses now would be more durable than that. Yours still has most of its frost.
There's my problem. I thought it was already in place by 1999. Just whipped out a 1999 silver proof set, and sure enough, it's not pebbled. The Pennsylvania coin has a nice cameo on both faces, but the NJ one has almost none. Geeze, you'd think I'd pay more attention to this stuff.
