Well there's the Eliasberg specimen. I'd rather have the much lower-grade (PR04) Hallie Dagget "Ice Cream" specimen, though. Just because of the story behind it. Even if the story is apocryphal.
I found one of those metal detecting a few months ago.. Just kidding I will add it to my Bucket List!
Reminds me of this The sad part is there are some better dates S dimes in the 1890's Honestly as much as I love San Fran coins that 1794 silver dollar plus a 1916-C and 1908-C sovereigns may just be my picks
If I had a million dollars? Sure, I’d buy some nice coins with whatever might be left over, but I would not spend the bulk of the money on coins at all, really- let alone any million-dollar coins! Nope, I’d buy me a modest but comfy cabin in the woods by a lake, a basic reliable small SUV like a Honda CRV for daily driving, a vintage Olds 442 convertible and a garage to put it in, and then I’d spend whatever was left on coins, after making sure my daughter’s college loans were paid off, of course. If you have a million dollars to spend on a dime- or any other tiny, round chunk of metal, for that matter- then you have way too dang much money, in my humble opinion. But OK, after I bought all the stuff mentioned above, what kind of coins would I get with the leftovers? Some Roman aurei, probably. At least one from the Boscoreale Hoard, like this one. (Yes, @AncientJoe - I'm showing it off for you again.) In the US stuff, an octagonal Pan-Pac $50.
Okay, I actually caved in and watched the video. Looked like 1896 to me. A real, real shame about the scrubbing.
Yup - it would definitely move. He sold it to help pay for my college. A truly selfless and extraordinary man who I miss every day. At least I have his coins (he was a dedicated and smart collector) to connect with. Life is short...
