How many countries' coins do you own?

I was thinking recently that, although I don't necessarily have a lot of world coins (about 1300, not including US or dups) I try to collect coins from as many countries as I can. Grouping them under the same major categories as in SCWC (like, Palestine is grouped with Israel, Tanzania and German East Africa are together, etc.) I have 175 countries.

I am curious how many countries people have. Care to share?

I only have 70 countries. But trying to get coins from as many different countries as I can is something that I just recently started as a project on the side from my U.S. collection.

Until a few days ago, I had coins from 10 different countries. Then, I bought 10 pounds of world coins and now I have at least 100 different countries represented (I'm still organizing and identifying them).

26 with counting the Euro and Hong Kong's as separate currencies, i just put all my Euros into one, not the separate countries that they came from

I found it, reason why I had a hard time finding it before is that it's a commemorative design for that year only.

A 2 Euro commemorative coin issued in 2005 featuring the Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and King Albert of Belgium.

So when I searched belgium euros before I got the usual designs.

I lost count a long time ago. Maybe I should count just out of curiosity.

For a book, the accepted standard (as far as I know) is the Standard Catalog of World Coins by Krause and Mishler. There is basically a volume for each century and each one is about the size of a phonebook.

For websites, there are many but my favorite is www.worldcoingallery.com. If you want, you can sign in and get an id (which you don't have to do) and then you can check off the coins that you have.

I second danielf both on the book and the website. Also, don't forget wikipedia for recent coins. They have very good pages describing and showing the euro coins.

A really big thing in Europe right now are the 2 euro CC. International groups are being formed to organize major swaps. Check it out.

Oh, and I don't know how many countries I have, but I'm coming close to 1000 different coins (except so far I'm counting US coins because my main collection is portuguese coins).

212 countries so far-when I get a new one I mark it off in the listing in the front of the Krause book. I think I have more that haven't been marked off. Have to update it some time.
