It doesnt look like the same coin. If you look at the back and by the mint mark to the right that ribbon that hangs down, one is thin the other is thick.
I can't take the credit, Woody did all the detective work and posted it on CFE. I agreed with him that it was the same coin, just way too many identical marks, and figured there would be others here that would like to see coin doctoring firsthand. I can see that SeriousCoins isn't too happy about it but I think if they were to take a pic of the original slabbed coin with today's newspaper, that would close the case and everything would be otay but it's not in its slab any longer and now that qualifies to call it a raw con (I mean coin). That 1914-D Lincoln is also a tell-tale sign, so peeps can make up their own minds about the situation and decide whether they want to take a chance with this seller or any Ebay seller, since Ebay is pretty much a hit-miss anyways. :goofer: Ribbit
I wonder if "rarecoins1", whose first and only post is right before serious' first post, is the same person as "serious". :eating:
I have spent the morning reading so many threads on the CFE,my head is spinning. I have to really look at this from a non biased point of view. If this is the case, I will be so seriously dissapointed, but I am not going to jump on the bandwagon yet. More work needs to be done.
Interesting possibility and if we owned the website, we could find out. But alas, we are just mere pawns, so we'll just have to guess. However, Suspiciouscoins (I mean SeriousCoins) did bring up an interesting point, their feedback. Woody, will you please post that email from Mike, that specifically dealt with leaving feedback? :secret: I think it would be appropriate, since he did bring it up. Ribbit

Sorry again for the inconvenience. I'll also gladly give you a little discount to make up for the trouble, if you purchase again. And, if leaving any feedback, please don't mention anything about coin being not genuine. You won't see me listing it again. Thank you, Mike/seriouscoins
Dear Mike, I had no intention of leaving you a negative. I gave you the benefit of the doubt. You promised you would not relist the coin and that would have been the end of it period. But it appears that greed or some other force got the best of you and you doctored and relisted a coin you knew was bogus. There is nothing Rotten about what I did!!! You did it to yourself. The scratch on the coin is unmistakeable. You owe me an apology and that will be the end of it as far as I'm concerned. Why did you pull the listing if it was in fact a different coin. Please send me a blow up picture of the coin you just pulled and I will retract the negative. Mark
Can you give me the original auction number for the 14 d he sold you. I want to take a second look. By the way I am not the same person.
Item number: 140290766085...original coin Item number: 110349839022...relisted after being returned Notice the identical scratch through the reverse right wheat ear near the top. Chemically darkened.

Didn't think it is, I know it is. Identical to page 45 in the ANA counterfeit detection Vol. II. 1983. Die struck, discovered 1978. Identical retooled 9 in date and die polish lines at base of bust and behind bust. Incorrect style mint mark. I examined in person, forwarded pages from the book to the seller, and he said "oh, you got the one with the die polish lines" to my brother in law, which led us to believe he knew. Have studied 14-Ds for years and never said anything about eBay until my family got duped. At least one quarter to one third of the raw coins of this date on eBay are bad.
How does this look? The area above the 9 & 1 in the date look raised, and the mint mark repunched? Does anyone know if any 1914-Ds had a RPM? 1914 D LINCOLN CENT NICE KEY COIN HIGHER GRADE KEEPER! - eBay (item 130286313801 end time Mar-08-09 160036 PDT)
