The US Mint has changed its' return policy from 30 days to 7 days. This gonna cramp anyones style? Don't know 'bout you folks but I liked the old way o' doin' things.....

Yeah, Kind o' puts you in a pickle. I think you would have great difficulty returning something within that time frame.

Now some of those shady dealers are really going to have to hussle. They have to crack open, pick through, seal up, repackage, and send back all those proof sets. The rest of us get the leftovers! Like every other hobby, a few screw it up for everyone else. I doubt this will stop this practice much, however.

It is a terrible change. Indefensible.

    what.............................................

........i think it is aimed at the flippers. the days of zipping thru large amounts of coins, sorting for the 70 potential coin and sending back the 'less than perfect' within a long time frame has come to a close. imho

I do not like it either.

The real reason they did it is because of the re-pricing issues on the bullion coins. It is intended to stop those who buy when gold is at say $900, then if gold drops in the next 2 weeks to $800, then return the coins for a refund, and then buy more coins at the new lower price.

With this new rule, they will no longer have the option to do that.

They no longer reimburse shipping. They send out defective products and they expect the customer to pay shipping. That is indefensible.

What is your reasoning for saying that?

So what, nobody else does either. No disrespect intended, but welcome to the real world.

Ok Debbie Downer ...it sounds like YOU won't be ordering much from the mint so, it shouldn't be an issue in the future....whew...that was a close one.

I think most collectors are able to receive a package, open it, inspect it and return it if they are not happy within 7 days. I know I can.

Beat me to it Doug....Trouble is, we all get spoiled. I remember back in 2000 the mint was offering free shipping to anyone who bought the mints' products on-line. When I went to buy stuff the following year I was surprised to see that a shipping charge was added. Reality.....

I order so few mint products to begin with that its not going to make a difference with me anyways.

I totally disagree. On defective products postage falls on seller. Even Woot ate shipping when they sent me a defective tv.

It will discourage legit returns of defective merch.

Good luck getting it back in 7 days. 3 days to get to you 4 days to get back. I will admit that quality control is better than 2 years ago but it is totally unacceptable to send out spotted coins and cracked cases and make returns almost impossible.

Actually I think it reads 7 days from when you receive the item.
