I am very new to all this but been having a lot fun reading and learning. Last weekend my husband and I visited a casino. I am not a very good gambler :) I like to play I am just not very good at winning. I found some half dollar machines and instead of playing..........I inserted a $20 and cashed out the coins. I didn't find anything at first but I didn't give up easily either.

I moved around and finally found a 1942 liberty half and 1968 Kennedy half. I was so happy. I suppose a casino is a good place to look for nickels and halves. Lots of casinos have gone to paper tickets but most of them still have coin machines. If you are patient and don't mind the strange looks you get it 's a good hunting ground. Now I wish I had spent more time on those half dollar machines. Too bad casinos use tokens for the dollar machines, that would be really fun.

I asked, and was told each half dollar machine gets 1000 coins deposited on each "fill" so I am pretty sure when we go back in August, I'll be hunting and not gambling!!

Thanks to all for all the great info posted here I am so glad ya'll share those great pictures!!

That's actually one of the best coin hunting ideas I've heard. Half dollars seem to be somewhat overlooked and there are still some decent finds out there. The next time I go to Atlantic City, I'm going to try the same thing.

  5. my grandfather parked cars at the dunes for years. he told me how they would run across the street, to a bank i assume, and cash in pockets full of morgans for bills!!!

I deal Black Jack in Deadwood, SD and we use Half dollars to pay out on odd bet blackjacks. In the three and a half years I've done this I've pulled $60.00 in '65'-'69' halves and about $10.00 in '64's with a few walkers and franklins. They run in cylces, you can go months without seeing one and then you can find three or four in one roll. About 2 years ago I opened a roll and found that half of the roll was silver w/ two '64's in it.
