Eight Keelboat nickels from three different locations in recent days. All D mint. Have never seen any of the new quarters minted anywhere but Denver. Of course, we live in western Colorado.
Latest finds, 1952 D quarter, 1964 quarter, 1947 D Nickel, 1971 D dollar, and a large amount of foreign coins mostly canadian and one french.
On May 13th i took a tour through the Denver Mint, while taking a vacation for my birthday. I was cosidering in getting into coin collecting a bit other than holding 1 of each State Quarter. During the tour a little talk about the new designs of the nickel and i looked in my pocket and had a 2005 D there. The next day i was at Mount Rushmore and decided to buy the half dollar commerative for a souvie while starting something nice for collecting. As i went deeper looking at my change in my pockets i had a 1938 Jefferson nickel in I considered in pretty good condition for how old it is. Not sure exactly how high of a grade but what i can see it is VF range or maybe a little higher. I also quickly got both of the 2004 D nickels in change. The last few days i got some more of the 2004 D nickels mostly of the keelboat. Carl
Mexico, $20 Pesos, Mexico City mintmark, portrait of G. Victoria, who I assume was a Mexican President. Condition about fine. 1985. Great influx of Mexican Nationals in our area, and I would asume that's where all the Mexico coins are coming from lately.
Need Some Help With This One... Had something really interesting turn up in pocket change, and have some idea what is is, but not sure. Can anybody help? Small coin. Made of nickel? Hole in middle. Cross on one side, Bird on a branch on the other. "1 Krone" on Bird side, with 1998 date. Some wear, but not much. Krone and Kroner, I think is Norweigian. Anybody know. Is it a coin from Norway? What's a Krone equivilent to in our money. Thanks for any help.
My recent finds: First of all, let me say that this is a great thread! My penpals from other places always start our conversations in letters with our "finds of the week." Now let me just say that I LOVE searching through rolls of pennies form the bank. I buy a box a week, search it, and roll it back up and trade it in for a new box. Since coming back from college, here's my finds from my last three boxes: 1910-P in AG 1930-D in (can you believe it) XF, but nicely toned... great eye appeal! 2 1982-P Small date Zincs in VF A total of 19 wheaties from the 40's and 50's, most in F12-VF A total of 6 Canadian cents A triple-clipped cent that my coin dealer friend says is authentic A 1970-S doubled die and 1 coin from (of all places!) Singapore. Don't ask me why that last one was in there... it was silver-colored... I don't know why no one never noticed it before. But anyway, I'm planning on going back tomorrow so I might have more coins later to inform you all about! Wish me luck!
my cousin found a 1909, no s or vdb, at walmart last year. I have found many stuff but the best is a 1926 wheatie and as i was going through some nickel rolls i found a half roll of war nickels in one roll.
i dont know if ive oposted in here yet the best ive found is in one day, 1 and a half rolls of nothing but wheaties in those rolls, 4 1909 wheaties and 2 1910 wheaties
The forum will tell you. At the page listing the various threads, you'll see envelopes (either open or closed). If there is a black dot on the envelope, you've posted in that thread.
I went to most of the banks around here so fast that one said not to come back for a while since i had gone through ALL of their pennies and nickels. This was in three weeks time.
My find was four Mercury dimes I got them about a year ago from a vending machine at work!!! I put a dollar bill in got my soda and it spit out two mercury dimes I did this two times and ended up with four mercury dimes from the forties Tried a third time but only got rosevelt dimes this time Makes you wonder how those four mercury dimes got in there
I found a 1991-S nickel in a bank roll today. I'm not sure how many of those are in circulation, so that may be the rarest coin i have found yet
I found a 1927 buffalo in my change, and at an antiques store i found an ,Iwould say MS 62 1861 silver 3 cent for $75.00
Not often.... I have a system - I get coin wrappers from one bank in particular, I turn all my coins in to another bank, and I live in a big city, so it's easy to get coins from several different banks. I don't think anybody has recognized me so far. Today's finds: 1930-P Wheatie 2 Canadian cents 1970-S Small Date (don't let anyone tell you good finds aren't still around in circulation!) "Un centesimo de Balboa" - A Panamanian 1 cent piece from 1993. ~AJ
I went to the bank today to get some rolled quarters, I didn't really get anything worth keeping but I did get a roll with 50 quarters instead of 40. Looks like somebody did not know how many quarters go in a roll. The roll was significanlty bigger then the rest the teller did a double take when she pulled it of her drawer.
