Where are they!?!? I went to my local bank today after work to see if I could order a box of the new Lincolns and was told that they cant do that because they dont get the coins directly from the Fed. The teller told me to keep checking back because its pretty much the luck of the draw that a box may come in with the new cents or it could be a mixed lot. Has anyone else found this problem at their bank? I remember when the Washington Prez dollars first came out I could go to the bank and get rolls of those. I thought, why should this be any different. Well, I guess maybe it is. I'll keep checking at my bank and hopefully soon I can pick up some. I also have a friend whos wife works at a bank and he asked her to see if she could get me a box. Maybe that'll work out better for me...:thumb:.
...........you mean you haven't seen this?? http://coins.about.com/b/2009/02/05/new-penny-circulation-will-be-delayed.htm?nl=1
Figured there had to be some reason hadn't seen any yet... the new year's pennies are usually out by now. For that matter it explains why I haven't seen any 2009 coinage yet (except for Kennedy half dollars, but that's only because I ordered some directly from the Mint).
New rolls of '09 Lincolns have been going for nut money on the bay ,lol. $20 to $100 a roll, can ya believe it? Hang on to your horses and get them at face in a cpl weeks:rolling:
The "currency backwash" is slowing the circulation of them, but inevitably they will be at banks everywhere, 50 cents a roll, minted in the billions. But some people just have to have them right now and are willing to pay highly for the privelege. Either that or they're morons who think these are going to go way up in value in their lifetime (just like the bicentennial and state quarters did, right?).
Both you guys are so right about that. Its so insane, and wrong. Nothing wrong in collecting them but stay connected to "reality man".:goofer:
