Question about wheat pennies

    With all this talk about weaties, i'm going now break open my father-in-law's rolls (about 20 rolls of wheats). one roll of steel pennies. only one of the steel pennies looks shiny, the rest look like they'd been exposed to salty air or something.

    Very typical. The steel cents were zinc plated, and zinc is one of the most corrosion-prone metals ever used for coinage.
