Ok, I think I am finally getting decent pics of silver coins. Remember folks, all I ever shoot is copper. What do you think? Here is the 37 D and S, obverse and reverse. I don't know squat about quarters, but in my ignorance, those are some of the nicest quarters I have seen. Just for grins, I looked at a 64 34-D on Heritage and it does not hold a candle next to that one. Even 65's are not cheap.
Thanks Rlm This is quite a set of quarters. The 34-d looks more like the 39 below it, lighting highlites every single flaw there is, and the pics are about 10X actual size, you see all the uglys, lol. This should turn out to be an exciting set for me to handle, and believe me, I have a customer that is trusting me to do the best for HIM, so,I will take it slow and carefull, as if it were mine. We have a bunch going to grade/slab. Tommorow, I'll get out the Cherrypicker book and microscope and make sure we are not missing anything. Truly, some gorgeous coins here:thumb:
I guess it is my day to be contentious, Doug. Those sure look like die polish lines to me. Or are you talking something else than the lines most notably in front of Washington's face.
Die polish lines do not go in a circular direction - these do. Nor do they cross the tops and sides of the letters. Follow those you see in front of the bust through LIBERTY - they go all the way to the other side.
I am not sure just what you mean by circular. They are somewhat arced, but I see no circles. And the reason I say die polish is that the lines I am seeing end at every devise I see. The clearest example I can point at is the L in LIBERTY. I see no lines crossing the L, I or Y (although possibly on the T). However, as is the case here, these are pics, not coins.
In hand, the 39-S shows zero signs of anything. The more I look at this set, it gets nicer , only the 32 pair I posted first, and the 34-D look AU. Even the 32-D&S will prolly slab. I took them under a microscope and they just look AU pocketworn, I cannot see a pattern of whizzing. We'll see, they leave for PCGS as soon as a sub I am doing for a CTer arrives here this week sometime. If I am wrong, it will be educational, but still, they need to be in plastic to realise the top dollar for my client, even if just a genuine slab on the keys. Also, I picked out a B reverse on one of them, cannot remember which. I am going thru the set with the cherrypicker guide to help me. This has been pretty fun and educational. I have never messed with the quarters, and do admit, some of these coins are pretty nice and attractive, a few are downright gem.
