    I understand that, but take a another look at it. That is one heavy hit, more a gouge than just a little scratch. I doubt that there's 1/1000 inch between the surface of the coin and the top of the arm on the star. If it was just a light scratch I could understand missing the star but it sure looks heavier than that.

    Or, having the coin in-hand they may have seen something that isn't readily apparent in a picture.

    Hey guys, thanks for the awesome responses. You all have been really helpful and insightful. This info will definitely help my sister inlaw make a decision. This is what makes this website so awesome. Friends can disagree and then discuss their differences to arrive at a general consensus. I have learned much today and am glad that I was part of this discussion.
