PCGS Trueviews vs in-hand look.

    PCGS has gotten better since they started, but they still have their reds/magentas turned up too high, IMO. Just an observation. Back when they started, I got a few returned coins on eBay claiming the coins in-hand did not appear as attractive as the Trueviews.

    To an untrained eye night and day....for the collector who wants the wow effect...the in hand image doesnt do it.
    Pretty coin... I like it

    Pardon my confusion. Is the first pic. what you sent to PCGS and their photo after grading?

    I'll add this as I added it to an article I written for a numismatic publication. John Call is one of the top 10 coin dealers in the mid~Atlantic area....bar none! And I know quite a few dealers in this area.

    I think the true view is accurate under CERTAIN condition, like angling the coin *just* right

    definitely not the everyday appearance

    Nothing sez open me first to a wife on Christmas morning.....than a proof shield nickel.....or a bottle of 100 proof grand dad......oh just another Christmas miracle! LoL
