I bought 3 unc and 3 proof commemoratives. I had a heck of a time the first half hour or so but finally the order went through. Anybody know the number of proofs verses the number of uncircs minted or is that not public information?
The "+" sign was clickable. If you had clicked it you would have seen the mintage numbers of 500,000.
Hey, isn't anyone here buying the limit of 100 each? (I bought 3 of each also; one for myself and one for each of my kids. They couldn't care less now, but perhaps some day, they'll be glad I did).
Talked to the mint today and they said the special four cent and silver proof set will be availible "soon". For those interested...
Hey Moen...like Danr said, good to see you back here. The mintage numbers for both proof and uncs will be determined by the overall number of each type sold. So with a total mintage of 500,000, like Danr said, we won't know until the end. Traditionally, there will always be more proofs sold than UNCs. In fact, I can't remember any time in modern comm coinage where there were more uncs minted than proofs. Joe
I just went on to order the proof version and it says it is on back order. This is at about 10:30 pm eastern time
Thanks Jacer and Danr! I'm always lurking in the shadows just not participating as much anymore. I kind of wondered where some the old crowd went. Haven't heard from bonedigger, Old Dan, Midas, or any of the old crowd. I'm sure they're about. I'm just too busy these days to spend much time chatting but my collection has grown to the point where storage is getting to be a hassle. I still haven't even opened my 20th anniversary ASE sets. I've yet to see that reverse proof up close.
Backordered a proof here... expected ship date 4/1/09... better late than never I guess! Think this one will probably sell out, if it's already going to backorder on day two. Just a guess. Don't really care about the dollar and cent set... I'm just going to get the cents separately anyway (they should incidentally be in this year's standard proof set, and I intend to get uncirculated or close to it versions out of circulation... pennies are minted in the billions and not hard to get!). It'll be too much of a pain to get the dollar and cent set based on the set limit... and more expensive than buying them separately which for me sounds like it defeats the purpose of getting them as a set anyway!
if you start preaching common sense and cause a crash in the coin prices we will come running after you
