    That's very interesting. This is the first I have heard of a slabbed coin being donated this way..or an ancient.

    @Penny Luster I think it was Raw and they just sent it in to be Authenticated .

    Seem like you run the risk of it not being identified, and just deposited. I wouldn't just drop it in a kettle.

    I agree dangerous if you do anything that is close in size to any current coin such as a half eagle being deposited in a nickel roll (although some coin roll hunter will have the find of a life time)
