    honestly snaz???

it is definitely NOT undergraded. The wheat stalks on the left side are problematic to me as I don't see a very strong strike on them. The obverse grades better than the reverse without a doubt, but I have to say that the reverse is what influences my grading decision on this one more.

I have to also qualify this tho by saying that I have NOT seen the abundance of UNC 14-Ds necessary to acquire the knowledge base required to make that call with any real confidence.

I say if not 55, then probably 53, but that's just my 2¢

Rather obviously Mike I asked Jack that question because he has the coin in hand and can better judge than any of us.

That said, I agree but yet disagree with your estimate. IMO the obv of this coin is the worst side, but not because of a weak strike, because of wear. It just shows more on the obv.

I readily agree that the left wheat is weak, but I think that is due to both wear and a weak strike. While on the obv the wear readily shows as a darker color - on the wheat it does not. That could be due to the pics, but it could also be because there is less wear visible on the wheat.

All of that said I think an accurate grade for this coin would be 53, but that it was bumped to 55 by value grading.

Yes, I agree with the grade. I bough the coin sight seen in hand, and paid HUGE for it.

it does quite amaze me that for two people who seem to differ quite often that we often arrive at the same results

We don't really differ on that much Mike, just certain subjects.
