I do believe it may be time for a new scanner. The little Epson i currently have is getting old, and makes funny noises when i try to scan some nights. My existing Epson wont scan notes with the Eurion symbol. Some chatter on e internet says its not the symbol, but a hidden watermark that scanners pickup and prevent from scanning. Either way ... Do newer scanners let you scan, say, the the newer Euro? or the newer US $20's? I know Photoshop (CS2 or higher) wont let you print... and i am ok with that, 100%. But just to scan it..... anyone with any thoughts?
My Epson works fine...2 yrs old scan all notes. Photoshop will not let me open the images but that is by passed with using Image Ready saving as a psd file then convert to jpeg and then reopen it in Photoshop. Dont know about the new scanners?? Good luck! RickieB
I use a Epson Stylus CX5400 and that works fine but I have heard that some have built in softwear that stops you photocopying new notes!! to try to prevent forgers I believe.
HP OfficeJet 5610xi here and I've not had that problem; never come across a note I can't scan. Not sure about printing, only tried once (but it was a note far older than would have the new watermark). Usually scan at about 200 dpi; that's sufficient quality for my Banknotebank collection.
its very frustrating to have folks limit legal activity in their own bad attempts at limiting illegal activity. do you think i will raise eyebrows if i go to the store with a $5 Euro note, and ask to test the scanner first??
i have an older canon scanner and use PS3. it does pop up with a warning that it can scan the item but you cant print it out. i was able to save it to any format i wanted to through PS3. i was also able to print the item also. :goofer:
I like HP for scanners/printers. Just my personal preference though. I have gotten responses like, I need a copy of your insurance not the original...umm it is a copy... hehe
so i guess what i need to ask is .... does anyone have a relatively NEW scanner that will scan the notes mentioned above i need to figure out which scanner to buy without having to whip out a stack of euro's to try in the store lol
