I was hoping someone could clarify the definition of repeater. I have read that it needs to be at least 2 numbers and repeat at least twice. My question is do they need to be back (2929)to back to be considered a true repeater or can they be broken up by a number as mine is(99699)? Thinking about getting rid of it and haven't found a direct yes or no answer from any sites and I do not want to post it misinformed.. Can I also ask if any one has an opinion of grade It is circulated and has your typical fold marks but it also looks like it was folded up like an airplane at one point. I know condition is #1 so do these folds kill what value it might have had making worth only face value. Appreciate any and all input Stay Safe And Healthy Wrexx
Ok . 9 being my favorite number , I like it. It misses being a complete Winner with that 6 in there though . I suppose it might catch someone else's eye on Ebay .
Names like Radar and Repeater reference the entire 8-digit serial number. Yours is interesting as a short radar, but officially it’s nothing.
This is a flipper ...reads upside down... Your note is also valuable since it is a star note with a low fancy serial number....you looked it up on a currency web site...check out Ebay also,.... Worth more than $20......
Mr Ozborne, I had looked a bit on ebay but was not sure what all I had which made it hard for me to price which is why I wrote the request for help here. to be honest I am still a bit unsure. So just to be clear mine would not be considered a flipper or would. SteveInTampa you said it would have to contain all 8, Learned something thank you, but if you turn mine upside down its still nothing, because? Do 0 not count in this situation or are they not considered a number in a true flipper or is it a flipper and i am just misunderstanding what is being said. Thanks again appreciate every ones time
@wrexx as @SteveInTampa said, all 8 digits are taken into consideration when designating a label to assign to a serial number. You can't just pick and choose the digits you want to use. That said, of all the commonly used labels, yours only falls into the flipper category. Is your serial number interesting? IMO it is only interesting as a star note. Personally I don't see a premium for the flipper. Certainly someone else might. As a star note, your research shows that it falls right in the middle of the rarity scale. You yourself mentioned condition is well circulated with folds and creases commensurate with a folded airplane. Offering it for sale on an auction site such as eBay will cost you their fees. With the very small 'intrigue' premium you might get for it, less the fees charged for listing, sale, and possibly PayPal fees, you would most likely end up with less than the $20 face value of the note. All these things considered, my opinion would be this note is a spender. If it intrigues you enough to put it in a currency sleeve and save it, the old adage comes to mind, a penny saved is a penny earned. I'm your case, a $20 bill saved is a $20 bill earned. Don't stop searching!
Seems there are a couple of views on flippers...some say only 0,6,and9s others include 1,8s...when you go to varieties and errors. com you will see what I mean...I think coin talk also has a currency forum you might want to explore....
Masterswimmer, Mr Osborne, SteveIntampa, Thank you all for your help and knowledge. I do appreciate all of your time in helping me broaden my knowledge in the currency area. I think I will take Masterswimmers comment 20 dollars saved is 20 dollars earned and hold on to it until I see that under 20 dollar coin that grabs me instantly. Thanks again every one.
