I picked up 1 90% Kennedy and three 40% yesterday and one 90 and two forties today.

All were in great shape and the two 64's were fabulous whites.

(went thru one box each day)

The bank has two more boxes from the same batch waitng for me Monday.

So I have had the dateless buff soaking in vinegar for about four days now. It's almost there. I'll post pictures when I can see the date.

    I found 4 beautiful 1964's yesterday.
I have recognized a pattern in the last 4 boxes of halves. They are certainly all from the same batch. A lot of nice early 70's and only three or four post 2000 coins. When you do find a 2000+ half, the edges are nice but the faces have deep cuts and scratches. A lot of MS 1997 Pand D coins, probably from an uncirc roll. I found no 40%s yesterday but got the 4 beautiful 1964's which made it all worthwhile. One bank orders extra boxes for me in anticipation of my requests and is very helpful . Maybe I will open an account there!
I have been finding out who the quality service banks are. They bend over backwards for your business anymore and we have two seven day banks with all banks having extended hours inside. I have had a business for 35 years and have accounts at three banks and use them all without abusing any one. But we have many banks and I sample them all. I do spread out my dumps at the 14 free coin counting banks so I am not a total nuisance. Many, many people come to the banks often to dump their coin jars and I love seeing the time capsules reenter the system. You can tell when you get rolled coins by how dirty and how much edge wear whether the coins have recently been dumped or been through the supermarket a zillion times. My helpful bank which orders extra halves sometimes lets a box get away to another customer before I can grab them. I know if I miss a box when the batch is running hot I have lost some good coins. I already have about 10K wrapped up in coin sorting and have lots of pretzel barrels rotating contantly. Getting the coins back quickly has become a science.

I have found that the coin counters have a magnet which can be accessed easily and without raising bank employee alarms for tampering with the counting machines. You just lift the shute tray and feel underneath.

I have a coffee can full of beautiful foreign coins and have found four fabulous steel pennies stuck to the magnet (about equal to the number of wafer batteries found)

All I have today until later. I have four boxes of halves coming before the weekend so I better get busy.

    Happy hunting!

Went thru $500 in halves to find 1- Franklin 57D 1-64 and one 69D

I also dumped my last batch and got a beat up 1923 Peace silver dollar stuck in the machine and a handful of foreign coins stuck to the magnet.

Three more boxes to go this week.

searched through a box of halves last night. Found three 40%'s, not bad for a box in my parts of the woods. I have only found two 90% halves in all of the boxes that I have searched through.

Its been a while since Ive searched through coins so I went to look for some rolls from the banks yesterday. Of the $140 I got, I found 19 65-69 Kennedys which seemed like a great find so I went looking for more rolls today and got 500$. Of all those rolls only 3 this time :( how luck fluctuates..
I think its better to search the unopened boxes of coins then the loose rolls, but I guess it can go either way. You could either get alot of rolls someone already looked through or you could get alot of rolls someone turned in and didnt know what they had..

    Hit the silver vein

Got $300 worth of half dollar rolls today, 600 coins.
Seven 1964 and 14 forty percent coins. God they just kept jumping out.
One of my best hauls ever. Loaded with 1999P and 2000P coins.
A few were good enough to keep. 2 strange ones, maybe struck through grease. The teller said they hand roll them from what customers bring in.
Funny thing is this bank doesn't pick out the silver like most other local banks do.

I've been to this bank numerous times over the years. Sometimes nuthin turns up but usually out of 400 coins I get a couple 40 percents.
This time it was amazing. I think a widow just cashed in a bunch of halfs without knowing what they were. The real amazing thing is the tellers hand roll the coins and nobody picks out the silver. Well I ain't telling them but they know I sort through rolls for something. Because she said "Just don't bring them back here, I don't want to roll them up again".

I have been cultivating the bank staffs with good manners and all the charm I can muster. One bank has a "Coin Police" hawk who makes sure you won't take a coin left in the reject chute if you had not had your change sorted yet. He actually made me give him a 2 cent Euro coin someone had left on the counter claiming it was bank property.

I find most tellers are young and have no history of our money system. Many have not seen a silver certificate or silver dollar.

Does anyone go to the bank to search paper money?

Funny you bring this up. When I went to get my box of halves on Monday, my favorite teller was excited to tell be that the day before one of the tellers got a note that had the word hawaii on the back. Needless to say she bought it, but I thought cool, maybe one day I'll be lucky and get one. The teller asked the lady if she was sure that she wanted to deposit it and the rest is history.
