I estimate those are the minimum TPG grades I would receive.

Here is my 31-D. NGC and I are still in negotiations as to what they are going to do with it. They sent me a "replacement", but there was as much brown on it as red.

Wow, That is an odd pattern to develop in a slab. Across the whole obverse and even a spots on the reverse. I wonder how many they have to replace.

Wonder what they do with the old coin? I read somewhere on the forum where someone claimed that the old coins were wholesaled off and came back into the market, but I didn't see how they could.

How long did it take to develop?

Thanks Thad for the compliment. That 39-D is terrific. I think it is easily beyond 66. I agree with rlm on that one.

How long has that MS-65 RD been in that slab? I think I've seen pictures of mummies better preserved than that.

Did you send the replacement back? What about postage and insurance for the replacement did they cover it? Whats next??

Hey! I paid less that $200. I stand to get either money equivalent to a 65 red or the coin. I could play this game a long time before I would worry about losing money.

I don't have anything splashy like what I have seen posted (yet), and my favorite coin is a coin from France. See avatar.
However, since this a post for US coins, I do have a favorite, run of the mill coin which is "special".

Special because it was given to me by my mother. It belonged to my Grandfather, who was born in 1879. This was a coin given to her by her mother when he passed away in 1968. I don't know if he carried it in his pocket, or kept it stored away but it is a nice coin to remember him by.
