I picked this one up in a 3 piece commemorative set (clad) that was in an old plastic holder with felt areas around the coins. The toning looks very natural. The other two coins are toned slightly, but this is toned much more than the photos suggest. This coin is nicer than either bicentennial in my mint set. Anyone care to put a grade on it? Paid $4 for the set btw.
Bought several years ago. It hasn't toned much since I bought it. Showed it to a former grader a couple of years ago and he said I'd be lucky to get a 62 on it . I was heart broken. I bought it before PCGS/NGC started. Oh well.
I agree, Dusty. That 70-S may not be a MS70, but it's a perfect 10 in my book. When I first saw it, I couldn't take my eyes off it for a good 5 minutes. There was once a day when I looked at the wifey in the same fashion.......many many moons ago. I challenge anyone out there to stare that 70-S right in the eyes......and not get excited.
Most of the slabbed coins I buy are raw now since that is my personal preference, but this may be my favorite that I bought raw.
