Yup. Luckily caught it before it ruptured. It was pretty inflamed the dr said, but the infection didn't spread anywhere else. Because it wasn't ruptured, they were able to keep the surgery laparoscopic which minimized the incisions as well as hospital time.
Being in a hospital during a covid pandemic was not how I wanted to spend our weekend.

Excellent! He'll be right as rain tomorrow!

Mine ruptured a little bit before I was able to get into surgery so they had to cut me open. Was in the hospital about 10 days before they'd let me out. A cut through the belly muscles does not heal fast. Plus they were keeping an eye on possible infections. All this while I was away from home on vacation!

Yikes! The Dr said that would probably have been the case had it ruptured and that's that was what I was preparing for. I'm really glad it didn't. He got to play xbox and minecraft for a few hours, the hospital gave him a little star wars lego set to build, and he got to eat popsicles. Not too terrible for a 9 year old. Minus the pain from the appendix haha.

It was when I developed an affinity for morphine! It was metered so no matter how many times I clicked the button it only gave me what they wanted me to have. But they didn't tell me so although the morphine was good, the clicker was an even greater placebo!

Speedy recovery for your son! It’s certainly a bad time to be hospitalized. But I am pretty sure the Xbox is a game changer :)

The morphine definitely made him feel pretty good yesterday haha. I have a few recordings of him talking silly talk. They gave him some oxycodone for the next day and then just tylenol and ibprofen after that.

I'm taking tomorrow off. Basically everything that needed to get done over the weekend....didn't....so I gotta get all that done. And figure out a good set up for Braeden to do virtual school from. We have some oldschool desks but they aren't the most comfortable to sit in for a long period of time. Especially after surgery.
    No rest for the wicked.

Oh, thank goodness. I had no idea what you were facing, and feared the worst. Glad it was something easy to diagnose and treat reliably.

Laparoscopic surgery is the best thing ever, at least until we get nanobots.

Best wishes for a speedy and uneventful recovery, both medical and logistical...

Thanks again all for the well wishes. He is feeling much better today already. Amazing how quickly children can mend! I know I wouldn't be feeling nearly as good as he does lol. He took the day off of school and is spending some time in his bed watching minecraft videos and sorting through his coin collection. Not a bad way to spend a Monday if you ask me :)
