Been wanting to get a Claudius Gothicus for a while. I had decided I wanted a well centered coin of Him, that just made it harder on making a purchase so I never really looked to much. Well I bought not just one but two of them. The first one has the typical Cladius Gothicus looking face but the second one does not look like the majority of them out there so I decided I wanted it also.

Both are nice, the first one stands out being so well executed.

That one isn't nice, but is where he got his "gothicusness" from

Claudius II "Gothicus", Antoninianus - Cyzicus mint, AD 269.

This antoninianus comemorates Claudius II' victory against Goths at Naissus, thus becoming "Gothicus"

Claudius Gothicus would make a cool specialty area. There are numerous different coins, different mints, and they -- for the most part -- are not expensive.

This one is my favorite one because of the depiction of Isis with her sistrum and situla.

Rev: SALVS AVG, Isis standing left, holding sistrum and situla; Є in exergue.

Like my friend @Roman Collector , I agree that Claudius II would be a nice speciality area. Lots of different portraits and reverses. I like both yours, the one from Rome especially.
I have 3 of his coins, so not exactly specialized....

Not sure I've seen Gothicus look that good:artist: Big coingrats!
For a guy who was only around for 2 years Claudius II did a ton to stabilize the empire and set up Aurelian to restore the world in his short 5 years at the top.

Great coins! I'm trying to specialize in this time period so, while I still don't have many coins, I do have a few nice ones. Here are my most interesting:

Obverse: IMP CLAVDIVS AVG, radiate, cuirassed right-facing bust.
Reverse: P M T-R P COS P P, left-facing seated Apollo, resting his left arm on a lyre and holding an olive branch in his right hand; P in exergue.

Claudius II (268-270), Antoninianus, Antioch mint, 4th emission (Late 270).
Obverse: IMP C CLAVDIVS AVG, radiate left-facing head.
Reverse: CONC-OR AVG, Proserpina standing right, holding long-handled torch in hand, facing Ceres standing left, holding corn-ears in right hand and long-handled torch in left hand.

(The green spots aren't bronze disease, they're hard and stable)
    Foto 3.jpg
Claudius II (268-270), Antoninianus, Antioch mint, 4th emission (Late 270).
Obverse: IMP C CLAVDIVS AVG, radiate left-facing head.
Reverse: AETE-R A-V-G, Luna standing left, holding long-handled lighted torch in both hands, facing Sol standing right, with right hand raised and holding whip in left hand.

These are better than what you usually see for Claudius II. Here is Smyrna late 268:

I don’t know why... but I love Claudius II coins. Below are a few pics that I have handy on my phone.

Here’s one that’s really ugly but you don’t see often. I’d like to find one in great condition without spending what it would probably go for.
