I am sorry for starting this thread ladies and gents. I was honestly just seeing if i would meet someone from the board at the show. I belive everyone has to do what they believe is best for them. We each walk in our own shoes. Some of you have people in your household to protect, i truly understand and would never belittle that. I have been lucky to keep working during covid, i started at home and then traveling to large events since August this year. My work respects the wishes of the employees who do not want to go. My wife is a nurse here in Florida, she works mid state for several days a week and then comes home for a long weekend. I get my numbers from here on.how many people are in her hospital each week with Covid, the most was 54 , right now it is just over 10. This month i travel to California and then home then Nevada, i will be tested between events for covid just for safety. I wear a mask in everywhere i go.. granted i want to be safe for myself and everyone i enteract with. I think the true disaster of covid is like a hurricane here in Florida, the madness of everyone preparing for a hurricane and then the aftermath, in this case the peoples jobs were greatly effected, the waitresses, the bar tenders, the hotel staff and even the lady that does my dry cleaning, they are hurting and they are victims too. So i apologize for offending this board. It was not my intention. All of you be well be safe.
No apology necessary. It isn't your fault that a couple of people tried to inject their political views into this thread and sneered at those who are being cautious. You didn't do that.
All good! While in Nevada.. can you pitch in and get those darn votes counted? Seems like they have a staff of one......
I have visions that in each of these states, there's one table of little old ladies counting votes for each candidate by making marks on scratch paper. And then they lose track and have to start counting all over again.

Scientific data is not a political view. It’s sad that you have to discount it as such to make your point.
Just to put the statistics a bit in perspective a short personal account. I got infected with COVID at the beginning of last month. I work in a hospital in the Netherlands. For months we have taken all the normal precautions. In our department i was the third who got ill, after me another five co-workers tested positive. I am in my mid fifties, not overweight and in good general health. Despite the chances i got really ill. After the first week at home with high fever and shortness of breath i thought i was recovering. Unfortunately, there was a secondary deterioration. After a few days i had to be admitted to my own hospital with pneumosepsis. COVID hospital care in the region i live already had changed to wartime frontline medicine. That means for new patients stabilize and ship out to another region. There is a real lack of healthcare workers. Nurses who have tested positive for COVID, but with little complaints, are requested to fill shifts in the COVID department. I was lucky i could stay in my own hospital and got adequate treatment. I was stable enough that i could return home after a week with oral medication. Previously, i was in excellent health. In the process i lost over 10% of my body weight, and relatively even more of my muscle mass. Sitting in a chair i could not even keep my head upright. Am on a rehabilitation program now. Also have a protein enriched diet to aid in restoring muscle power. Its just a pity that i still don't smell anything anymore, so nothing really tastes. Slowly there is some progress, but won't likely be able to work for at least a month. Every individual has the freedom to decide what risks they want to take. But surely, the stakes are high.
Focusing only on death rates as if nearly 300,000 actual deaths in 8 months (plus long- term effects, plus burdens on the healthcare system) mean nothing, is quintessentially political. Especially since the death rates can't really be certain without knowing the actual infection rate in the entire population.
Yes, they sent an email this morning my hotel room was cancelled, due to the decision to cancel the show. Online auctions till Summer.
Surprised it took them that long to do what is right for the public safety. Think I'll probably avoid the FUN shows due to this. Not that they need my pennies.
This is a novel virus that the vast majority of the population has no previous experience with, unlike H1N1 which has been around for well over 100 years. In addition their is still a lot we don't know about it; look up "long Covid". Furthermore that statistic is skewed for total case fatality rate for the general population. When you factor in the mortality rate with age then persons over 65 are "more than 62 times higher" to die than younger patients. Also if I had to bet money I would say that a large number of persons attending FUN are over 65. The post you are responding to was left over a month ago. As wrong-headed as it was, the discussion of it died quickly. Thankfully. Can we please not revive that sort of abominable gibberish from drive-by posters who never, ever post in the ancient coins forum except to say such things?
Politics aside. please to everyone who can afford to do take out , or order simple services such as laundry , yard work and or delivery please remember to tip, this will help the workforce that is getting the brunt of this. And for you who are not cautious , I have a friend who does iron man competitions and is now fighting for his life , this virus is not just affecting the old, or those with pre existing conditions it is effecting everyone. Be safe , wear a mask, wash you hands but remember if you have money to spend remember some people rely on your business.
I linked to CDC data Again, data. I literally have thousands of posts in this subforum about ancient coins. If you have anything honest to say, you aren’t showing it.
What does this politically motivated nonsense have to do with ancients? And talk about data in a vacuume. We still know so little. But the same folks that said it was just going to go away, now know so much about it. Go peddle your wears elsewhere. Some of us care more about others than ourselves.
In order for his .003 mortality rate to be correct, given only the number of U.S. deaths so far, more than 100 million would have to have been infected. Far more than the highest estimates. The numbers don't work.
