Dumb Criminal Posts Bond With Counterfeit Notes

A St. Louis man arrested for DUI in Illinois posted part of his bond in cash. When the money was turned over to the County Clerk two $50 bills were determined to be counterfeit:

Poor guy. When it rains, it pours.

He may not have known they were counterfeit.

 

I suppose it's a possibility. Technically, it's only a crime when you knowingly pass on counterfeit bills. Though I suppose the argument could be made that any reasonable person should be able to figure out they're counterfeit...

Yes, but since it was a DUI, I imagine he could argue that his perception was impaired.

 

Didn't the cop who gave the notes to the county clerk also pass counterfeit notes?
