I know very little about die cracks. I recently found this 1995 cent with a fairly long die crack. How common is a die crack like this? Would this be of interest to people who collect die cracks? This is the first coin I've found with a die crack so any information would be greatly appreciated.
Well I think they are common, but the only moderns I have found a die crack on are washington quarters. I would keep just because I think they are cool. I am not sure if they bring some kind of slight premium.
There are those that love error coins and die cracks are always pretty cool on modern coins because there are hard to find. This would probably be more sought after if it would have been in Ms condition.
This is very unusual on a modern coin. Still, it may not have a huge retail value. It's definitely worth keeping/selling, but don't expect a fortune.
Minor cracks on a modern coin carry little to no premium - sorry. They are neat though, and there's nothing that says you can't add it to your collection on coolness factor.
Thanks everybody. I was pretty sure it didn't have much if any premium but like I said I don't know much about die cracks. I've seen many pictures of die cracks on older coins but wasn't sure how often it happened with modern dies. I do plan on keeping it.
