Just saw that the Mint posted their 2021 product schedule. Turns our they are making gold and silver eagles with the old and new reverses next year. They have the series collectors by their Buster Browns to buy both...with that and the 2 price increases this year, maybe they should add a Skull and Crossbones flag to the others flying outside their DC headquarters.
From what is posted on Mint site today this is what see... 2021 W proof old design 2021 W proof New Design 2021 S proof New Design 2021 W uncirculated new design Then a two coin reverse proof set. Maybe one old and one new design? Anyone have different theories?
Six coins! Probably at $75 a pop. $450. And assuming the mintages are not seriously limited, then - yes - essentially bullion. Greedy bastids - eff em! That is exactly why I have almost 100% decided to end my collection after 35 years. Makes me sad, but then so does what the mint has done here. Maybe I'll just pick up the old design so I can have a complete set of that at least.
If you bought all of the stuff the mint offers, you wouldn't have any money left for anything else. It might be me, but I think you can get better deals on bullion coins in the private sector.
@Virginian I'm done with the ASE also. I have everyone except the 95-W. And since the grim reaper is closing in , almost had me in March not coronavirus related, I have given them all uncirculated & proof to my daughter.
