U S Postal Service New Output

anyone still uses larger quantities of stamps for mailing?


I do see offers for 50% face sometimes for larger collections mnh or less than 25% with no gum...

Is there a market for that in the US???

At 50% off face I would say no. It's only good for postage so if you mail a lot it's a great deal but you gotta put the stamps on the package.

 

I wanted to mention this too, but my internet has been out since Sunday with the extremely high winds we've had here in NE Ohio... Another reason why people are getting out of stamp collecting: Have you priced a set of Scott catalogues lately? For the whole set, you are going to spend close to $900 if not more!!!! This is WAYYYYY too cost prohibitive for the average Joe collector and it's a huge chunk out of a small time dealer's budget as well. It's just ridiculous. That is what all the new issues from all over the world have done. Bilk the collector out of his money. The Scott catalogues at one time were 3 volumes, four if you also got the US Specialized, and were within the average collector's means to obtain a set. Now, that's totally out of the question. Now, they have a special catalogue for worldwide issues issued from 1840 to 1940. That is what TOO DAMN MANY NEW ISSUES have done. They've ruined the hobby, and the Mints of various countries are also killing the goose that laid the golden egg, so to speak, by issuing too many coins at the drop of a hat. Sorry for my rant, but I hate to see this happen.

 

I have the 44th Edition of The Postal Service Guide to US Stamps. I got it from the USPS. It covers up to 2018. I can't find if the USPS has a later edition. As a quick reference I like it. Here is a link to one on eBay.

I have older versions of the world Scott References. You need them for older stamps. I figure that new one should be easily identified.

Yup, just learned this..
I bought a coin on ebay and the seller put 2 old 5 cent stamps to which 1 was a "Sam Houston" and the other a "WW2 US Allied Greece" stamp.
I had this elaborate thinking that the seller put this stamp as a extra treat since my last name screams Greek. I even put in a word about it in there feedback score.
I messaged them and somewhat thanked them.
Not even close, even though the seller was Greek and their last name was shortened to show no sign of being Greek these stamps were just used as postage.

Looking closer there were 3 15 cent "Seasons Greeting stamps" in the mix.
Wow was I wrong

 

You can sell them unused for about 50% of face. Otherwise, I just use them for postage.
