The bigger question... does anyone know who "Nat Turner" is or what their ideals are? Who they are? What they are or who they are as a collector? A google search only returns hits on the pre-abolition era anti-slavery leader.
I feel like they have been slow ever since the COVID stuff really hit. Not just PCGS...but their PSA sportscard brand too.
I'll hit report when it's necessary. I'd rather steer the discussion back to where it should be, if I can, rather than tattle on people.
Weren't they sold a few years ago? I thought the former owner bought ICG but that may also have changed hands since.
At this point, ANACS can't tell it's bunghole from an open-mining pit. There will need to be serious and total overhauls of ANACS for it to ever be close to a reputable firm. No disrespect to some of the graders there, but ICG falls into the same category. The question, with this announcement, becomes, what's the future of PCGS? ANACS? (Volume I, II, III, IV, or V?) ICG? PCI? SEGS? DGS (ooooh, you forgot about that one, didn't you?) .... PCGS?
I don't necessarily agree with that. They are good at authentication and variety attribution. Their grading is also pretty consistent and from what I have seen is normally pretty close. I have had good luck with ANACS coins for cherrypicking.
ANACS has been sold at least 3 times since I've been active (mid-90's), but it was sold at least 2 or 3 times before I became an active collector.
What I don't like hearing is investor firm. When I hear that I think quality goes down to make more profit.
Buddy, you just contradicted yourself in 3 sentences. Either they're good at variety attribution, or you can cherrypick them well. You can't have both.
Do you realize hedge funds have been huge owners of their stock this whole time The big real change is that now people won’t be able to invest in their success. This isn’t a game changer
I suppose I misspoke. When I said cherrypick I meant I can get a quality coin for a much lower price. A lot of people overlook coins in ANACS slabs just because of the slab. Many are graded accurately and yet sell for a fraction of the price of a PCGS coin. Honestly, for as much as I love PCGS (and I do)...from what I have seen they are among the more inconsistent TPGs out there.
baseball21, posted: "Contradiction again." How so? I love America but it is not perfect. He loves PCGS but they are not perfect. I just like you and neither of us is perfect. Understand?
Oh, Insider, sometimes I respect you so much and sometimes I see why some people consider you a troll.

Not me, I have been looking for a Jefferson Nickel in a DGS slab for a really long time and can't find one.
Not at all. PCGS is not that consistent. Look at the coins they grade. They command the marketshare and have the highest sales prices...but they really aren't very consistent. I am...in Portland. At the time I was finishing an AR-15 I built for competitions. My current project is a short-barreled CZ Scorpion Evo.
