I was looking 8 over 7 when I found this overlap or double die or forgerie ? any ideas as this I have not nticed before
It looks like it could be a VAM (variety Morgan) for instance the 1880 P (i assume that's what this is?) VAM 4 sounds like it has similar doubling... http://www.vamworld.com/ check this site out definitely something going on at the top right
It is possible that it is a RPD (1880/880 or 1880/80) or an Overdate (1880/79)! I know that it id dated 1880 but from which Mint? You might want to go to the Vam World website and check the known Repunched or Over Dates. http://www.vamworld.com Frank
Dutchman, You beat me to the punch! I was typing while you were posting. Oh well, great minds think alike! Frank
THANKS now you guys really opened up a can of BIG worms for me, now I have to go back and take a closer look at all my morgans again , I really appreciate all the info on this web site that everyone helps put out.
ROTFLMAO! Yeah but just think of all of the fun you will have when you find that one or more of your' Morgans are on the Hot 50 or Hit list 40 lists and have fetched some really high prices. Frank
