Finally had some time to edit the "Anchor series" photos, so here they are. Very happy with this purchase as it is probably among the finer specimens of the type out there. It's been a great year where I've been able to add four amazing symbol denarii types. Anonymous. Anchor (first) series. 209-208 BC. AR Denarius (18.5mm, 4.44 g). Rome mint. Obverse: Helmeted head of Roma right; X (mark of value) to left. Reverse: The Dioscuri, each holding spear, on horseback right; two stars above; anchor below horses; ROMA in exergue. Reference: Crawford 50/2.
Congrats , excellent coin and picture. I have an Roman Republic As of the anchor series , 10 of these would equal your denarius
Thank you! My goal is to at least try and get one type of each from one of the series, haven't decided which one to go for yet though.
