With everyone missing in person shows and bidding heavy in auctions, I’ve been losing a lot. I’d been looking to add a Victoriatus and managed to win this one in the most recent Naville auction. It isn’t the most beautiful but I really liked how the borders are complete and round on an irregular flan.

I’m sure there are a few nice ones out there so please share yours.

It sure is a nice and heavy victoriatus.
    Mine is "narrow" in comparison

Nice one, @H8_modern . I like those large flans on the Victoratii.

I have several of this denom. Here are a couple large flans.

Nice one @H8_modern . I also like the large flan. These are fun coins with lots of history.

Mine doesn’t have the full border like yours but I definitely have the irregular flan thing going.

I have a few of these. I think I'm up to 15 at this point. Here are my 3 favorites:

This one is my favorite I think. A very rare variety with Q on shield first published this year in the Numismatic Chronicle. By happy coincidence I spotted this example after reading an early draft of the paper. The variety hid in plain sight for many years as a worn example from this reverse die, with Q on shield worn off, is in Kestner-Hannover. I spotted this on on eBay and placed the largest bid I think I've ever placed at auction because I knew I might never see another example - thankfully it hammered for a fraction of my max.

Roman Republic AR Victoriatus(2.87g, 16mm, 2h), "Q" series. 209-208 B.C., Apulian(Luceria?) mint. Laureate head of Jupiter right. Border of dots / Victory standing right, crowning trophy with wreath; on trophy shield, Q; Q between. ROMA in exergue. Line border. Crawford 102/1 var(style & Q on shield). Cf. "A Large Hoard of Roman Republican Victoriati", Pierluigi Debernardi, NC 2019(173) for discussion of "102Q" variety.

This is the rare "incuse legend" victoriatus from Spain. Previously extremely rare, a handful of examples come to market each decade. This one is worn and has a thick patina but I was happy to own any example of the type.

This victoriatus with staff symbol is perhaps the finest known example of the type, and certainly the finest I know of in private hands. It was another eBay find, uncleaned and unattributed which I sent off for cleaning. It has toned considerably since then and I need to take another photo.

Excellent "big flan" editions @H8_modern and @Alegandron - this one just barely fits on the small and light flan. I am calling this one Crawford 44/1, but the thick base still leaves a little wiggle room for doubt.

Speaking of big flans. Here's one with a nice big flan with full borders on each side. These 53/1 victoriati commonly come with nice big flans like this like the OP coin.
