1964-D Washington Quarter with a C Reverse

    Is this a C reverse ? I am 90% sure it is. what do you think

    Looks more like a 'A' reverse.

    Thanks for the link sumorada. Notice how sharp the features are on the 'C' reverse where as your reverse is somewhat weak. Looks like some machine doubling on your reverse, no added value.

    Reverse C Quarter

    Doesn't look like a Rev C quarter to me. The tail feathers need to have lines splitting them to be a Rev C. Have a look at a clad quarter after 1964 (and before the State Quarters) and see how the tail feathers have a line splitting them in half. Here's a pic.

    In 1964 they were making silver quarters. The Mint was getting ready to change over to clad quarters which are much harder than silver, so they had to make new dies to accomodate the clad coins. It seems like one reverse die that was intended for striking clad quarters was used to strike silver quarters. This is the 1964D Reverse C quarter. It is quite rare. I have managed to find a few circ pieces as well as Unc pieces. Nice AU pieces are worth about $75 and Unc pieces go for about $200-$300.

    hey guys
    i have a bunch of 1964 silver quarters
    D mint mark and Business mint mark
    im trying to find out more info about the type c
    most of them arein great condition too
