National Gold Bank Notes for $400.00 to $500.00? I'd rather have two of those than paying $850.00 for a 16-D Mercury Dime. Granted, you'd probably be able to get a far better 16-D in 1974 than in 2020.
Then again, you could always have the misfortune of having a time machine that can only travel between November 2020 and November 1974. At that point, you might as well make the best of your situation.
Me I would stop in 1974 buy two low grade 1916-D dimes and then go 1938 a by two copies of Action Comics #1 sell one and get around $5 million today
I'd go to March 20th 2010.... At which point, I'd take that $850.00 and buy 170,000 BTC (Bitcoin) at $0.005 each. Which would be worth around $3,000,000,000.00 today.
I happen to have a 1970 Blue Book . In it the book list this as 264,000 minted and at $150 in Very Fine ( highest it goes).I would by 2 also amd some Gold !!
What are you going to take back with you to buy it? I guess you could take the time to track down $850 in 1965 - 73 quarters.
Yeah, but you'd have to have banknotes from the period to pay for it. How much would a $5 silver certificate from the period set you back to buy a BU roll of 1916-Ds?
I don't know if anyone ever saw "Somewhere In Time" with Christopher Reeve, but he wanted to go to the past to meet with a girl of his dream. He changed his clothes to those of the era, cut his hair, and purchased coins of that era. Don't read the rest of my entry if you don't want to know the ending...... Anyway, he got the girl to fall in love with him, but when she laughed at the clothes he was wearing, he started showing off how good it was, but then he pulled a coin from one of his pockets which was a coin from his time...1980 and was sucked back to his real time. It's a great movie for those that liked Christopher Reeve and time travel.
God gave me what he gave me. I'm here, I'm alive, and I'm thankful. In my opinion. Thanks for the post. Happy Holidays
